Update June 2018

Thanks to the residents who responded on over 1000 occasions to consultations over the last three years to help shape the ‘Submission’ version of the Chalfont St Giles Neighbourhood Plan. There is now a final chance to comment before the Neighbourhood Plan is sent to an External Independent Examiner who will determine if the Plan can be submitted to a Referendum.


The response to the particular comments made in October 2017 are follows:

 1. Natural Environment Policy 2. The five meadows i.e. Stone, Upper and Lower Stone, Upper and Lower Silsden have been designated as ‘Local Green Spaces’. Which, under National Planning Regulations, gives the greatest protection possible (although this is not absolute).

In addition, the suggestion regarding possible future developments at the Recreation Ground evolved into the following statement in the Neighbourhood Plan:  ‘Development in these green spaces would only be permitted where they perform a supplementary and supporting function to the Green Space’.  For example, this could allow a new sports pavilion to be built at the recreation ground, if required, in the future.

2. Housing Policy 1. ‘Rural Exception Sites’ in the Parish to provide affordable housing in perpetuity will be supported subject to more carefully defined criteria.

3. Economy Policy 1. ‘Supporting the Vitality of the Parish’s Local Economy’, now has stronger criteria from preventing the ‘Class Use changes’.
